This is a fairly new purchase, a heavy Benin bronze head...i dont know a whole lot about the piece so I have been doing some research online...these types of heads apparently represented kings or other people of noble lineage and the bronze head would usually be placed on a wooden body (there are large holes in the neck that were used to attach head to body)..not sure of the age of the piece but definitely looks like some welding done where the nose and eyes meet in order to repair it so it has some age to it.
coooooool...whats the art hanging on the wall behind the head,,,hmmmmmmm... can ya post it ...???

Almost suggests the macabre, but still highly collectible, congrats !~
this is quite new , thank God , because you probably have not read the legislation and bought it without clearance certificate,
