Hellsten sadly passed away this week aged 89. a very underrated designer in his home country Sweden. Known for his brutalist designs for Skruf 1964-72 he then moved to Orrefors where he remained until 2005. Whilst at Orrefors his trademarks were deep blue and black glass or a combination of the two. This is an example in a different palette and includes a spiral air bubble making the design for this bowl from the 'Meteor' collection from around 1990. Besides this bowl the Meteor collection also features globe and taller vases and a variety of colour combinations.
