This old copper stetson had been kicking around the nursery for a long time and i don't remember where i got it. It's 7.5 inches across and someone had melted pine sap inside it which has now hardened. I can probably get it out with some effort, but not sure it's worth the time. It's cool looking the way it is too. Any idea what it went to? is it a very large ashtray?

I always saw them as ashtrays.
I have a lot of these Souvenir Copper Hats Pete, most are Ashtrays, but the largest that I have is about 5 1/2", most are 3 1/2, some smaller, they came with Decals, or hand painted Locations, where they came from! Thank for showing this larger one! Bill :^)

Thank you Bill and Kevin too! This one is very large even for an ashtray. how odd that it is filled w/ pine pitch too. it must have been in there a long time as it just barely has the scent.
Hey Pete, maybe that Pine sap was put in the hat to give it a little weight to keep it from blowing away, if it was outside, or for a Pine scent in a house! Bill :^D
could be bill. i was thinking maybe it was cooked in the hat, but that probably would have left distinct marks.
