Another Japanese piece inherited but I have no info about it.

Porcelain vase beautifully painted and gilded. Mark on base "Hand Painted Japan" so am assuming it is not early 20th century.

I could spend lots of time checking this out but I know that talented and knowledgeable people here will inform me. Thanks in advance!

    Height 20cm (8in)

*****Mike has come through with an Id and date. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Mike!

It's lovely Karen :) ... At first I thought Nippon which would make it early, but it would say Nippon and not Japan. It's a bit later here's something from Gotheborg's site about the Cherry blossom marks. This is probably Noritake from the mid-1920's-30's era.

      Cherry Blossom Marks
      Courtesy Gotheborg.com
In 1924 a mark know as the "Cherry Blossom", in the shape of five "M" was sub-contracted by the Nippon Toki Kasha Company (Noritake Company) to independent companies making porcelain for export the USA Market. I have here collected a number of these and similar marks with the likelihood of a relation to the Noritake sales organization, the US market and a possibly date to the mid 1920s

      Thanks Mike for the info.
It's a great piece and that date makes it likely it's another from Shaun's grandfather's travels. So nice to know!

i totally agree with Mikelven who as always did some excellent job and did the difficult part of the dating (thumbs up)

so i do it the lazy stylistic way out , it is what is called pending flower design , and Mikelven is spot on

      i love it
