My trip to Salvation Army this morning was a bitter cold one. Today was -5 degrees in Ohio this morning. Wednesday is also "packed to the rafters half price day" which I usually avoid. I was standing at the counter talking to my friends when my eyes caught these sitting on the top shelf of the display wall. I was told they were probably just put out as they weren't there earlier. I walked over and checked them out. A matched pair although not identical 14 " vases. Gorgeous heavy raised enamel flowers and gilt. The gilded ruffle tops start out cranberry and fade to a bottle glass green. A slight bit of ribbing at the neck. The bottoms show wear to the edges with a polished concave pontil on the bottom. Inside the pontils are acid etched numbers. One vase has what looks like a "12" and the other has a "12" with a "2" turned on it's side below it. No name of a maker is present. These look like they are done in a style similar to Moser judging from the glass color shading and the high quality and precise style of raised enamel work. I'm thinking 1880's-1900. Kovel's states that a lot of Moser is unmarked. In fact a lot of marked pieces are fakes. Whether they are or not, they sure are beautiful and to find a matched pair still together after all these years and in great condition is incredible. No chips or cracks and almost no wear to the enamel. The gilt on the ruffles do show some wear but is mostly intact. Over a hundred years of bouquets in them with water I would expect some wear at the tops. I'm beyond pleased. -Mike-

I don't know that was my initial guess Sean. but after looking at some image galleries I'm undecided. I guess I associate bohemian with dark green glass. So something Euro for sure.

Here's the only piece I could find that looks close. This is identical in glass color shading and style of painting to my vases, but was already sold on Etsy so no info about where it came from or who made it was available. I beginning to think Moser is a possibility. I know if I'm wrong I'll be chastised severely. Just thinking here :)

Well......at least I gave in on the Bohemian / Czech part.....lol. These look similar in shape and enamel style of painting except for the color.

Such a beautiful pair! It can be really hard to tell the difference between Moser and Legras/Mont Joye sometimes...but based on the glass color, and the pinterest example you gave (which is Legras), I'd lean strongly towards Legras on these. But either way, you made a wonderful find!!

Mike, is it just my imagination, or does the third picture have writing on it below the number? It looks like it could...
    29. mikelv85 mikelv85, 5 years ago
It might just be an anomaly in the glass, but I see what you mean Michelle. Now I'm wondering too after all this time. Darn why did I pack those away...lol
    30. Michelleb007 Michelleb007, 5 years ago
If you happen to unpack them and find that it says 'Czechoslovakia' than I am definitely wrong here! ;)
    31. mikelv85 mikelv85, 5 years ago
Oh darn..that's getting to be almost as cliche as "made in China"...lol. Not that it's a bad thing when it a good piece, but I'd rather they were French :)
    32. Michelleb007 Michelleb007, 5 years ago
Maybe it says 'Depose France'! :)
