thanks jscotto and blunder! the container is 12" tall by 7" across. it does look like a mini-milk transporter. not sure how brass interacts w/ milk though.

I wonder the same thing, but stainless steel hasn't always been here. Too small for milk really.

Field thermos? Farmer would had it in the field with his horse team for water? But again I'm not sure I'd even like to drink water out of a brass container.

My guess is a moonshine still pot. Maybe it had a funnel top lid at one point. Maybe just a cork on top; you only need one handle to tip it up for a swig!!!

thanks bb2, ravage60 and Dave! i am leaning towards moonshine bottle too. drinking water is still carried in brass containers in many parts of the world - unfortunately lead is often used in the soldering of brass.

Hmmm! I'm thinking this was used as a milk bottle. Do you think it may have had a lid at one time or another?

      maybe... probably. thanks jscotto!

Your welcome ho2cultcha. I know someone who can all it up for you with the right brew.

the right brew would probably get me drunk as a skunk w/ just one tablespoon!
