I always look forward to my sisters monthly visits from New Jersey. Along with fresh inventory for our booth from the auctions she attends she always surprises me with gifts. Knowing my love for Roseville all to well, last months trip scored me three Donatello pieces. I believe since it is fairly early in their production the Donatello pieces never seem to be marked. The large pedestal ( #575 ) is missing it's jardinere but is in perfect shape. I actually have two other pedestals in different patterns. Finding matches will be tough because of the many shapes, sizes and color combos in these jardineres. The 8" hanging basket (#327-8) is considered "rare" along with a little lidded powder box...which I used to have..but not anymore darn it. I bought that back in high school and never knew what it was. I think it was broken or lost in a move. So sad now that I finally know. The basket would have originally hung from leather laces to protect against chipping. Someone must have used s-hooks and chain because it does have a small chip around one of the three holes on the inside. Finally an 8" console bowl which I've had a hard time putting a production number on. It's in very nice condition with no damage. Just some fine crazing. What's odd is that a fellow vendor brought in his Mom's Donatello umbrella stand. I was a bit envious. It sure is a beauty and with a price to match. Then bam !! Sis shows up with all these. I'm not worthy !...lol. -Mike-

Thanks Ken...this is a line that belongs to their "production ware" meaning they made a lot of it. Although it isn't marked Roseville which may be why it gets mistaken for something else much like the powder box I had all those years ago. Just didn't know what I had. :)

      Hey mikelv85,
I hadn't seen this post of yours before! Very nice group! :^D
I have a book, Roseville Pottery, Collector's Price Guide by Gloria Mollring and James Mollring, fifth edition (c) 1999 It's very good, with lots of small black & white photos, and Identification numbers, and sizes, and descriptions, with color, to identify your pieces, like 327-6" as being the rare hanging planter, and planter/liner, not console bowl(but commonly called low bowl), as being 238-5"-6"-7",( and 8") not listed though, yours is missing the liner. I don't know if the authors are still alive, or if the book is still in print, they lived in Lockford, California, and had an antique store there, where Gloria was known as the "Roseville Lady". I think you could find the book on line though!
      Here's a link to a Donatello bowl 55-10" that I posted a while ago:

Thanks for posting these nice pieces of Roseville Pottery! :^)

Oh! I don't know what your box looked like, but they have a round lidded box that they have listed as a power jar! :^)

Thanks so much for the "love" and all the great info Billretirecoll. Yes, it was the powder box that has long since gone missing. Bought that at a local junk shop when I was in high school for about a dollar I believe. :)

You're very welcome mikelv85! :^D I checked on line for the ring bound book, and it is available, at abesbooks.com , ebay, and amazon.com also. The last, 10th edition was printed in 2004, and no longer in print, but there's plenty available, if you're interested! Oh! Gloria Mollring is still alive, in her 90s, and lives in Sacramento California, now. :^)
