These clear glass 6 1-4"H x 4 1-4"W sculpted bear bookends give an icy appearance, their cone protuberant eyes allow them to look in different directions, a very unusual feature. From 1983, they were designed by Don Shepherd (a former architect) for Blenko Glass

      My first thought..Snow Bears!
How remarkable that the designer made these little guys eyes to look in different directions!
      Glass perfection, I’d say!

These look to be a pair of baby polar bears sitting and waiting for Mommy's return with some fish maybe? I like their icy look and the way they seem to be sitting huddled together- at first I thought they were those really woolly dog breeds, not sure of their breed but they can look a little like some kind of bear/dogs?
      They're cool bookends though!

Thank you very much all for the thoughtful love

Thank you Ken and Scott for the kind compliments & seeing the cuteness in these rather sad eyed bears, very grateful as always for your wonderful support

Yes Eileen, snow bears is perfect, they are huddled together from the chilly weather! Think the icy appearance esp in the back view is made to look antarctic perhaps Shepherd was thinking of polar bears. Great compliments my friend thanks so much

Lauren I am always delighted at your vision, I can also see those really woolly dog breeds here like the chow chow, you have such a marvelous eye! And you also see polar bears, great image of them huddled together waiting for their mom, you have the best ideas & comments my friend many thanks!

Thank you Thomas for your beary great compliment, you always give me a smile and for that I'm so grateful, glad you liked

Thanks junkbuddy for the super comment, I had to show them holding up a book so had that Wildlife tome from Reader's Digest, really glad you liked the pic - it's also where you can see how the designer made the eyes and nose jut out to give the face a bit more liveliness

Wonderful compliments AnythingObscure I am really glad you got what I was going for here! Indoor photography doesn't do clear animals justice, you can see all the glass subtleties in an outdoor photo, I don't do them too often but I did like the way their eyes came out able to look in other directions, that was pretty cool to me

Super thanks for loving my ice bears

Thanks MrsT for the lovely comment, their faces are rather forlorn looking I know! What really appealed to me are the cuddly arms, they do not look like ferocious bears at all right
