This 2"L goldtone brooch shows an elephant on parade, inspired by the elephants of Jaipur India, with faceted blue-gray howdah bead seat above & silvery filigree caparison blanket, along with faux pearl and red bead dangles. Designed by Eugene Bertolli for Napier ca 1960s-1970s, info from The Napier Co book by M. Lewis

Very fancy little elephant- I love how stylish he seems to be, his pose is lovely too, he seems to be prancing forward proudly showing off that huge ruby he has! He's definitely an eye-catching elephant - so sparkly too ;D

Lauren thank you for the lovely compliments I'm really glad you enjoyed this complex little elephant, they certainly outfitted him in resplendent gear worthy of a procession! His silver blanket, beads and pearls are truly fancy, the Napier designer Bertolli (their most famous one) did a very creative job here & I'm so happy you found him stylish

Thanks Scott for your super comment, this is certainly a lovable elephant as under all that pageantry he really is cute!

Ken thank you for your fab compliment & it's wonderful you have this piece on a bracelet, I also read they made it into a necklace & it was done in other color combos, i.e. different color beads, and in the Napier book the filigree is black metal. You could always count on Bertolli to make something innovative & noticeable

Thank you MrsT for your great comment, I absolutely can see this guy in a royal procession, perhaps with an Indian prince riding on top! There are so many holidays celebrated in India, and their animals are always so beautifully decorated

Many thanks Searching for the love for this Napier elephant, it's a really interesting piece with the ornate filigree blanket and oddly shaped top bead, but it really works & that is a tribute to their great designer Eugene Bertolli, who was Napier's equivalent of Trifari's Philippe back in the day
