Hello everyone!!
Among all of my many many animal doorstops and sculptures is an elephant or two, including this very large bronze Asian elephant sculpture. It's an extremely rare one and I've not seen another like this one in all of my research. The sculptor captured every little detail on this wonderful sculpture. She's got quite a few years on her and was produced sometime between the mid to late 1800's. She has developed quite a wonderful patina in her 150+ years of life. There are no markings on her that I've been able to detect, but that was not uncommon for bronze sculptures to be unmarked during that period of time. She's experienced quite a bit of paint loss during her lifetime, but still a wonderful piece. This one is really large and measures nearly 20" long and 15" tall. She weighs in at nearly 21lbs!! So, quite a large and heavy sculpture.
