1878 and 1888 Morgan Silver Dollars
Arguably one of the most coveted American coins sought out by collectors. The 1878 is the first year of the Morgan dollar. This example isn't in the best shape, but still decent for a coin that is 144 years old. You can see the loss of details compared to the 1888.
MINTS ARE YUMMY
The 1878 has an "S" mint mark denoting the San Francisco mint. The 1878 coin has no mint mark, so it was made in Philadelphia. Of the four mint marks available, the mint mark "CC" represents Carson City and is the most valuable of the mint marks. The seller had one, but I couldn't afford it. An "O" represented New Orleans.
WHY SO POPULAR?
"These were among the coins that Jesse James and his gang stole in their holdups. The silver dollars that Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp threw across saloon tables in Tombstone, and the coins that Annie Oakley shot holes through in the Buffalo Bill Wild West Shows."

The U.S. Mint made Morgan dollars from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921.
WHO IS MORGON AND ANNA?
The Morgan Dollar was designed by Mint Chief Engraver George T. Morgan (1845-1925).
"Morgan opted to use the profile of an American girl to depict the Goddess of Liberty. After he rejected several possible candidates, Morgan's friend, artist Thomas Eakins, recommended Anna Williams of Philadelphia. Eakins knew Williams through her father, Henry Williams, and she had posed for several of Eakins's paintings. Anna Willess Williams (1857 – April 17, 1926) was a teacher and philosophical writer."
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT....
Two years before my 1878 coin was minted the telephone was invented. Edison received a patent for the phonograph on February 19, 1878, and launched the Edison Speaking Phonograph Company a month later.
The 1878 Morgan dollar had some interesting minting variations. One included the tail feathers of the eagle on the back side.
Originally minted with 8 tail feathers, then minted over(7 over 8), then finally 7 tail feathers. There are other variations including parallel vs slanted arrows, flat or concave breast on the eagle and later 1888 hot lips.

Morgan’s are my favorite,,they feel good in your hand
But ,back then ,to have $50 worth ,rattling around in
your pocket wasn't so good

"By using similar approach as Scott de Martinville, Edison used cone shaped speaking horn to gather sounds and deliver them to the flexible diaphragm that was connected to the sharp stylus. These was where their design differed. While Scott used paper covered in soot to create marks, Edison experimented with several storage mediums before electing to use cylinder coated in thin tinfoil. This enabled stylus to create indentations in its structure that can be read back by another stylus and delivered to diaphragm for reproduction."

what was the grading of the offerte of the cc its a mintage of 2.200.000, i can,t look in your wallet , but it can,t be that expensive, does,not sesnse in the equation and ratio

The Carson City coin was not officially graded. He was only asking $300 for it. Yes, I could afford it but don't need it vs a $30 silver coin. Have plenty of other interesting silver coins to look at.
