I love lightning rod balls and weathervanes. When I had a chance to get this for my collection it was hitting the mother load. I saw this about a six months ago in northern Indiana. It came off a barn that is over 100 years old and is still standing and looks great. They had a new metal roof put on over twenty-five years ago and didn't put this back on the barn. This has been sitting in the basement all that time. This would have sat on top of the cupola. The weathervane is 32 1/4" long. The hollow pig is 14 3/4" long. The pig has three hoofs on the vane and one in the air and still has his tail intact. There is a number on the vane A10B and the name James. The name James is the name of the company out of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The company made large weathervanes in a variety of animals around 1900's. The rod is 34" long with the original ruby red glass ball. This is the nicest weathervane and lightning rod that I have ever picked for my collection and I will enjoy it for years to come.
