I have two dressers. Joints are dovetailed and dresser is not exactly symmetrical.

It was from my Great Grandmother who came from Italy in the 1920s. No stamps or markings anywhere. Nails are found in a few places.

    Upright armoir dresser:
    Length: 37"
    Height: 55"
    Width/Depth: 20'

    Long wooden dresser:
    Length: 48"
    Height: 38"
    Width/Depth: 21"

    Unsolved Mystery

The front is not really wood, but a wood veneer. Very decorative.

To clarify-- veneer is real wood. It is a thin sheet of wood that is glued over another material (wood, particle board, etc...).

In modern times it is used to cover a cheap material (usually particle board) and give a better appearance.

It is not always a sign of a cheap product. Many antique pieces have veneers and are quality constructed. It was often applied when solid wood was limited in supply or would create a prohibitively high price on the piece.

Your pieces appear to be a quality dressers. I would assume they are SOLID wood construction under the applied wood veneers.
