    Efesgirl
    (1006 items)

Left unloved in a box of junk at a flea market in Huckelhoven, Germany. One stone was missing, now replaced. Not silver, but it couldn't be any prettier even if it was silver. Also, very nice detailing. If I come across a proper vintage rhinestone of the correct size, I'll replace the CZ.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy 4th!
    Bonnie

Jewels1900 - ya think? I have no idea, I never thought about it being by someone in particular. I did do an Image search and this particular brooch didn't turn up. I looked up his name in conjunction with swallow brooches, and they all are depicted in flight. Hmmm...

Hey Bonnie I saw one by a German Company early 1900's, that was similar the way the wings crossed in back, it was marked sterling though, can't remember the name! :^(
I saw it while looking for Swallow Brooches! :^)

Bex didn't do figurals. (That I know of) It's lovely. Are you SURE it's not silver?

So classy and elegant with its two wings touching, love it!

I don't know if it's Pierre Bex or not. I've never seen this exact design signed or attributed. I don't know much about Pierre Bex but I do know this brooch is very similar in theme & construction of the Pierre Bex brooches.

I bought this same brooch a few years ago. It was sold to me as being circa 1920 and it certainly has a circa 1920's german styling - like the link posted (although that one is a little earlier I think). When I received it though, you could tell that it was more modern.

I think the 'enamelling' is actually a layer of paint with a layer of clear resin over it (I'm not an expert on this is any way, just a hunch). The detail is very good though, and the patina looks like silver but I'm not sure about that either.

A good find for 1 euro!
