I was very lucky with this ring, it was on make me an offer on eBay I did, I was thrilled when I received it. I tested the gold and it tested 18ct or higher. I decided to have the gold tested at my local jewellery shop to see if I was correct in my assumption, it came back has 22 ct. I asked if the ring was Georgian and the reply was in their opinion it was because of the closed back style. Unfortunately because their are no marking we shall probably never know. The high dome Garnet is a wonderful red wine colour and I love to wear it. I always get a buzz when I get a bargain buy and there are still bargains out there, you just need a bit of luck.

    Many thanks for looking

Grade of gold, lack of mark, closed back & the way the shank has been attached to the bezel do all point to the Georgian period. :)

Hi cameosleuth, thank you for your comment. I have to agree with you the ring does look Georgian. As you say with the gold content, the style of the shank and closed back it all points back to that period in time.

Hi Judy, I have to say I was just glancing through eBay and came across this ring, I immediately throught Georgian. It was one of those that the seller didn’t know anything about it. I decided to put a low offer in not expecting them to except, lucky for me. Thank you for your lovely comment.

So true! This is really nice. Love the shoulders and I wonder if it once was a flip ring? It's possible.
    17. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 6 years ago
Hi shareurpassion, sorry for the late response. I had to look up what a flip ring was and in my opinion I don’t think this ring is. Many thanks for your comment.
