This 3 1-4"L fancy dolphin brooch has white rhinestones and dark blue enamel on goldtone, with a 3-4" fixed faux pearl drop. A limited edition design named Dolphin of the Fountains by designer Edgar Berebi of NY (1981-2003) from the 1990s

Honestly, this is one of the weirdest depiction of a dolphin I've ever seen. It's almost a dragon/flower hybrid?! :P especially his tail which looks like a little orchid petal maybe? I really love the little hints of deep purple of him too

Lauren you are spot on here, it IS a strange dolphin design that you can definitely see an undulating dragon body in and flowery tail. However when I visited Kauai in the 90s one of the high end hotels had dolphin sculptures like mast heads at each corner of the pool that were very similar to this design so perhaps Berebi was inspired by them. Wonderful creative comment as always my friend thank you so much!
My deepest thanks Maureen for your lovely kind praise, it is really uplifting to read that about my collection, I love to find a "star" piece like this one that enhances some of my older pieces (for example this week's Kramer post, which I've always felt was so so; that company could make some beauties like my emerald star, then they had many that were mediocre IMO). I collect Edgar Berebi . I am dazzled by the beauty and craftsmanship. I own 3 brand new Dolphins of the Fountains that I bought from Edgar after his retirement and sold some of his archives. A wonderful man.
