I was very happy, with the help of a friend, to liberate these wonderful lamps from an antiques shop in Zagreb, where they have probably never been separated from the shades since they were made. I still have some work to do; they need to be re-wired, and I need to find a spot on the walls to mount them. Although I show them here as table lamps, they are fairly lightweight, and would need to be really secured to a base of some kind to make them stable. Anyway, on to the details - PN 85/3780 (a Bakalowits commission) was a Kolo Moser design, and he was known to use this decor. The shape was also used by Loetz in their regular production under a different model number. Although this decor is commonly referred to as "Streifen & Flecken", the production notes for this PN note "Zephyr m. blauen Streifen und Punkte" - Zephyr being a shade of white in Loetz nomenclature, and the blue strips and spots speak for themselves. The fixtures are of the same period, and it does look like they are original to these shades.
OH my !!! What do we have here !!! WOWZA !!!
Congratulations !!!
These are magnificent!
Stunning...to think, they survived the twilight years of the Austro - Hungarian empire, two world wars, & the Balkans war...& are still shining on...
Great find. I think they can be easily and securely mounted with expansion anchors and brass screws with the head or hook big enough to enable secure hanging (inserted through the holes of the lamps). If so, the head of the screw should be close to the wall for hanging, leaving practically no space between wall and lamp bases, unless you decide to tighten the screw.
Indeed marvellous so jugendstil, adore Kolo Moser designs
Stupendous!!!! OMG be careful when putting these up on the wall!
Amazing!!
Just beautiful! They are amazing and will now have a rightful place of honor in your home. Congratulations on being able to add these two magnificent lamps to your collection.
I would also like to have some friends in Zagreb for looking out for Loetz items
