2 1/2" high, this little orange ball came out of an estate sale. Doyle Lane, a Los Angeles artist who studied at USC created this weedpot which I found tucked amongst 7 full bedrooms of costume jewelry, clothes and mid century laminated furniture, just as the owner left it ... a few items here and there were spectacular in their representation of mid-century modern art and glass and covering it all were filled boxes and loose piles of costume jewelry.

Never know where I'll find my next treasure ... just keeping my eyes open and expectations in check.

Weed Pots are meant to hold a "wild flower weed" gifted by a child, according to the Internet of things. How true,... I don't know,...this orange one is stunning!!!

Thank you @amatoorPikr for the very cool definition ... perfect for these typically small vessels with just enough room to hold a single flower or two. I love the glaze on this one too!

These are capturing many peoples imaginations of late @ho2cultcha - Doyle Lane produced some amazing work during his life, and his story of living in east L.A., creating his art during the turbulent mid 20th century compelling!!!

You're most welcome! BTW, I didn't know these were called "Weed Pots" until I noticed your posting!! (one of my first postings was a piece of pottery like yours, but I didn't know what to call it back then)

Ohhh yesss ... that Salisian piece is lovely, great find! I like the thick glaze on these pots. I recently found an Arch Pike piece which also has this style glaze - but because he fired his work in a smoke fired kiln it has additional depth to the colors ... wonderful objects! Thanks again for the description - I'm loving it!

Shame I couldn't get my hands on all that costume jewellery - I would have cleaned out the rooms for you.

Hahahaha, you and about 40 other people who had all pulled up chairs around the house picking through the boxes, tables, and more boxes of the stuff !!!
