These vases are in a form that was used quite often in Loetz's early production, dating to 1898/1899. It was a shape made in quite a few other decors, but this is really one of my favorites due to the unusual color. A dear friend came across this pair first, and I am so lucky to be able to be own one for myself due to her kind generosity. :)

After looking online for the color name of these vases, and noting there were many different shades of red used by Loetz, I discussed the color with Deb of The seller's pictures showed a much deeper red, but the photos here are really a good representation of the true peachy-pink color. She thought it best matched 'Metallrot', which translates to Metallic Red. She also noted that this particular color was used more frequently in their early production. (Thanks, Deb!)

Oh, and if you can see in the first photo, one vase (the one on the right) is just a tiny shade darker than the other...

Lovely I can see why they call it metallic red ..loots a bit like an Opal to me . Is this one of the layers that they would use in Pink Metalin????

Hi Marty, I'm not sure; the pink Metallin example I have seen on CW looks a bit less peachy in color to me...but I could be wrong.
