Here is a 1 1-2" gold plated donkey brooch with genuine jade and peridot gemstones and a carnelian eye, with a crisscross body pattern. Designed by Edward Swoboda, jeweler from Los Angeles, CA, ca 1955-1978

Judy it's so great to hear you totally loved this, I think it appeals because it is so unusual with the rough gemstones, at least that's what I loved about it
Eileen thanks so much for enjoying the design, I went back & looked at my orig post which said it was a half inch so you thought super petite, I left off an inch, it's still small but a bit larger (I post really early a.m. so am often half awake, try to be careful but fix things later on lol)

Real stones! Rare.
Thanks Karen, I do think it's a very rare piece with the rough gemstones on the body, yet it doesn't detract from the cute design. This jeweler Swoboda was known for using these chunky gems in his pieces, and I was glad to see the natural yellowish green peridot gems in this one, today peridot is mostly done as olive green which is not its true color (it was my aunt's birthstone, so she had many real ones). Great compliments my friend, so kind of you
