Hello Everyone!!
A recent acquisition of mine was this vintage cast iron Sitting English Bulldog doorstop. I love all of the detail on this wedge style doorstop. Every aspect of this Sitting English Bulldog is well defined. Though this one is very reminiscent of the B&H (Bradley & Hubbard) Sitting English Bulldog doorstop, it isn’t a B& H. I’m not truly sure of the exact age of this piece, but this was made sometime during the first half of the 1900's. All that was needed on this one was a good cleaning, a coat of transparent wax and a good buffing afterwards. So, he cleaned up quite nicely. I'm not truly sure if this is his original paint, but, if so, he's experienced only minor paint loss in his lifetime. There are no markings that I can find on this piece, so I do not know who the foundry is that produced this Sitting English Bulldog. He measures 7 3/4" tall, 5 1/16" wide and weighs in at 8lbs 13oz.

Love that he has that wedge which makes him better at doing his job as a doorstop. Pretty much the right height for a bookend too, beautiful piece !~
