As a collector, you can often experience "feel good" moments, whether that may be scoring "sleeper" bargains, or checking off a rare, long sought after item from your bucket list. And sometimes, it can be finding an elusive match up for an "orphan" item.
Glass fairy lamps are often found as random spare parts, & it can take years of relentless searching to make up a complete lamp. Well, that's how I tend to collect them anyway!
This particular fairy lamp dome was purchased at a flea market around 20 years ago, & because it is so big, I was unsure if I'd ever find a suitable base for it. Originally, it may have had a base that was made from the same unusual rainbow spatter glass. However, this large Clarke Cricklite base turned up during a late night search & it arrived from the UK last week. Initially, I bought this base as I knew it would fit at least three of the spare domes I have waiting around for a match. I didn't even think it would work with this dome, as I'd tried & failed before with others. When the base arrived, it looked pretty big, so I thought I'd give it a try - & it was a perfect fit.
This very beautiful dome looks so much better now it is properly displayed. Now I just need several more Cricklite bases for my other "orphan" domes...oh well, back to the search, I guess!
Base - clear Clarke Cricklite, made in England, late 19th century.
Dome - cased rainbow swirled spatter glass with side air intakes, most likely Bohemian origin, late 19th century.

Many thanks, Peggy - & I totally agree with your sentiments!
I have a lovely daydream that I walk into an op shop one day & find a box full of these large Cricklite bases, plus a few really cool spare domes in rare decors such as Peloton & rainbow satin glass... :-)

      See, hoarding matters :))
      It's a great match.

BTW - I've picked up a few little bowls I think might be fairy light bases for you to check out. Just have to get them to you!
