Vase by Ernst Wahliss
Bohemia, circa 1900
Wahliss was both a producer and retailer of fine ceramics. His Vienna store purportedly had the largest porcelain offering in Europe at one point. He also had stores in Paris and London. He had a long intertwined history with Amphora, which is why you will find his ceramics in the books on Amphora. You can read about this history in Monsters & Maidens: Collector's Edition by Dr. Byron Vreeland or in Ceramics from the House of Amphora by Richard L. Scott.
This particular vase is featured in Monsters & Maidens: Collector's Edition. It is the only example of this form and decor that I have seen.
