Hi everyone, just a couple more family photos.......
The 1st one is my Uncle Charlie (Mum's brother) who sadly was kia in New Guinea during ww2. The picture frame is not original to the photo itself, but it is one from the period that I found for it. Note the Australian Rising Sun emblem across the top of the frame.......a nice touch I thought:-)
2nd photo shows the closeup of the Rising Sun emblem.
3rd one is my mum in 1945 wearing the sweetheart brooch that her brother Charlie sent to her before he was kia in 1943 aged 24 (from memory)
Hope you don't mind me posting these.....just going through a sentimental period as we all do I guess as we get older (lol) Thanks, Judy

Lovely photos & WW2 mementos Judy, I am very sorry about you losing your uncle in the war, he was so handsome as Mom was beautiful (you favor her in looks, yes?) And really love the Aus rising sun emblem on the photo frame

My dad was in New Guinea also, a terrible place of war, but like most he never talked about it. The photo of your uncle is great, and the frame is a special classic. I'm sure your Mum really valued the brooch Judy.
      A lovely post.

Hi Karen, so sad that so many young men lost their lives, and those who returned could not speak of it......
I'm glad you liked the photo and frame too and yes, it was Mum's treasure:-) Thank you.

Hi Judy, I'm glad this came up, I hadn't seen it yet. 75 years after your Uncle's death, and an honor for him, that is shared by us all now. What a wonderful thing to do, for the memory of your Uncle, who gave his life, fighting to keep the World free!
Thank you so much for the post! :^)

@ Ms.CrystalShip(Eileen), my Father served in the U.S. Navy during WWII also, though out the Pacific, and took many photographs, but sadly they were all lost, when my Sister's home burned in the Santa Rosa, Calif. Fire last year! :^(
My father would tell about the places he went during the War, but I think it was ingrained into them, that "loose lips, sinks ships" so much, that many tried not to remember. Even all the letters and Telegrams that he sent back home to his Parents, were censored, with black ink, over times, places, and Ships, that he wrote about. It's hard to imagine, in this day, with News Reporters on the Battle fields live. Thanks to everybody, for your words on Judy's post! :^)

Hi Bill, thank you for your kind words and love, I am a bit overwhelmed by all the kindness shown by our CW friends and happy that they too were comfortable to share their own stories here.
Thank you for sharing your story Bill and how sad to have lost so much in the fire, but nothing can take away your memories:)

      Hi Judy!
Maybe some clues for identification of the "Mysterious Maker"!
      https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/816Dw3iPHNL._SY606_.jpg
      https://www.google.fr/search?q=the+parisian+diamond+company&client=ms-android-orange-fr&source=android-browser&prmd=minv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjY4PXWzaTdAhUIy4UKHWclBbwQ_AUICigC&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=nURQ7pJSYqo8UM:
The Parisian Diamond Company, manufacturer and setter of imitation diamond and pearl jewels, active in the right time frame, they seem to have been important, luxury premises in London, a Paris location I was unable to find...

So much similar pieces to what I have and saw... only missing further infos on the company and their mark!

Sorry so late replying Pascale........it is driving me crazy that we are not getting emails!! I really can't even be bothered to post anything new either!
Wouldn't you think someone from CW management would be able to put a big notice on the front page of the site about what they are doing about it so everyone can see it!!

Sorry, now back to your mystery maker.........they seem to have been spread world wide don't they as far as their I guess their retail outlets were., with their head office in London. Do you think these items were actually made in England? Or imported from Europe? They sure did a lot of advertising and seemed to have a good reputation! So frustrating though to not have the mark listed anywhere to confirm that it does belong to this company!

Thanks for the love too:) finally got my attention!!

Judy, you're right, this "bug" of CW is truly bothering... Now, I can't add a post to my collections :-(
I emailed Ben once more yesterday about that matter, which tend to keep me away from the site...
For the still mysterious maker, I still think the pieces were made in Germany, they only bear a 900 or 925 mark beside the "urn", no English marks, nor French...
    29. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 6 years ago
Yes Pascale, back to being made where you originally thought with not having British or French silver marks!
