I found this on a local market site and jumped on it. Look at all those delightful little drawers. I could put all kinds of little things in those drawers, rocks, coins. I fell under the spell. I could see it under that white paint. I learned the history of the piece from the day it left the American Cabinet Company. I even know what dentist and where. I had to bring it back. I had no idea how.

I watched You tube videos and learned from watching the masters, not the quick or cheap method by any means. I didn't have their tools but I had a gentler hand and the ability to figure it out. I had to build a foot and fix the split top. I had a chemical burn in the one cabinet and 2 layers of paint on top of shellac or varnish to remove. I did the drawers and rebuilt the few missing dividers with matching wood and restored it without removing the character and history. It is still all the original parts but for the foot and a few dividers and a corner of the trim. I video taped the entire experience. It was all worth it.

That looks like a lot of fun. You can never have enough little drawers.

That's a huge job, but look at it know, it's beautiful. I love the glass pulls, and the grain of the wood is lovely.

A great job, thank you for taking all that horrid paint off.

Thank You ho2cultcha, fortapache, Gillian, and scottvez. I just love this piece and spent 100 hours or more on it. I even found a few dental tools and supplies in it, which I returned to the drawers once complete. I wish I could have shown the inside of the drawers, but there are only 4 pictures allowed. Each drawer has a specific use and is designed for it with wooden slots or flaps or operational adjustment. When the tray with the lock is pushed in, there is a wooden mechanical locking system that catches the back of the drawers. It really is stunning and I was lucky to have found it. I just needed to share this beautiful piece.

I did make a You tube, if you want to see the video walkthrough of the before and then after. It shows the inside and I open the drawers and cupboards.

Nice before and after video. This is why I always hired women to do final finish work. Whether it was a rehab, repair of a new item. Women always pay much more attention to detail. Our lathe turnings my wife always did the finishing and they looked like glass when she was done applying Australian friction polish. You did a fine job.
