This 1 1-2" cat face brooch has a textured goldtone head, golden eyes nose & whiskers, and face made of brown bakelite (simichrome tested). By DeNicola (1957-1970), marked on back, ca 1960s

Nice one- though when I first looked at it I thought it was a squirrel! Especially with the twitchy looking nose and the fact it’s autumn so it’s squirrel time. She’s a very different looking kitty alright- her shades of brown and gold are really nice and rich.
Funny, I thought it was a fox at first glance :)

Phil thank you for your super comment, I love the design too and the goldtone features are very eye catching here, DeNicola had some really interesting and original figurals, and of course their zodiac pieces are legendary, which I fortunately nabbed a couple of before the price zoom
Lauren thank you for your wonderful and always observant comment, agree that the twitchy nose-whiskers could easily be a squirrel's. It's an unusual cat design from the 60s and I love the brown face too - had a black cat brooch but with the scorpion it was kinda too much this week, will save for a later date
Searching & vintagelamp, thank you both for your fabulous comments & two votes for a fox, that is certainly another good choice for this animal - maybe the designer combined different animal ideas for this one, after all it was the 60s, perhaps after using one of those mescaline type mind bending hallucinogens lol!! Well you won't be disappointed as I have a fox for an upcoming post that unmistakably looks like a fox which I hope you'll like
