Hello everyone!!
I love cast iron dogs in any form. So, when I saw this, I couldn't pass it up. It's a cast iron bird dog inkwell with glass eyes. This inkwell dates back to the 1870's. He's so incredibly detailed and I love the blue glass eyes. I've seen these with green eyes and red eyes, but, this is the first one I've seen with blue eyes. He's missing his ink pot, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. He was pretty dirty and a bit rusty when I took ownership. But, he cleaned up really well and after a coat of transparent wax , and a good buffing, he's looking much better. I see reproductions of this particular inkwell, but, this one is a true original. It measures 4" tall, 6 1/4" wide and 6" long. Pic #4 shows what he looked like before cleaning him up.
