This was a super buy it now on eBay AU - & a true sleeper.
Simply listed as a pink art glass vase, this unusual piece is made from cased glass that shades from clear to pale pink.
It measures 23 cm tall, 10 cm across the inside of the crimped top rim, 10.5 cm across the base, which has a polished out pontil mark, & is around 48 cm in girth around the widest point. Quite an imposing specimen!
I'm describing this as a pedestal rose bowl, as the upper part has the classic rose bowl form with an incurved crimped top rim, perched atop a footed, stemmed base. It looks kind of like a mushroom & is weird in a good way. Folks, you know I'm all about weird stuff!
The vase has a martele decor, as well as a slightly iridescent satin finish.
As soon as I saw this, I knew it was something special.
Made by Rindskopf, circa 1900.
