Here is a 6 1-2"H yellow glass scallop shell bookend with an inner swirl, from Blenko Glass of Milton WV. Silver label dates this pre-1982 but they were also made into the 1990s

Almost as if its recreating Monticello's birth of Venus. Its a masterpiece no doubt !~
That's one fabulous shell and another great bathroom piece! It would look great with a statue of Botticelli's Venus standing before it! Or where the sun can shine through the golden yellow shell- it would look STUNNING then!

If not for the label, I wouldn't have thought it was Blenko! I have never seen a Blenko piece with an inclusion like this. Nice find, Jenni!

Thank you MrsT for your super comment, I agree the swirl is a really cool feature inside the glass, it adds to the ocean look, perhaps a special signature of the Blenko artist
Thomas thank you for your wonderful comment, it's so great that you are now living in sunny Florida with all that sea & sand beauty - my stepdaughter & family live in Cocoa and she adores seashells, has alot of very fancy ones & pretty ocean coral sculptures as well. Lauren thank you for your awesome praise & ideation, I actually do have a marble Botticelli Venus figure somewhere (it's posted here with a JJ Jonette mermaid brooch in combo), will have to look around for it & pair it with this shell near a sunny window, that sounds beautiful! You always give me such creative inspiration
Thank you Scott for your fantastic praise for this shell bookend, I had this on a "wish list" for months and am just glad nobody else bought it because I'm delighted with it. It's such a heavy glass piece I had to be careful it wouldn't tip over while taking the pix
Kevin thanks so much for your terrific comment and yes, the inner swirl is very uncharacteristic for a Blenko, I just think the glassmaker wanted to either add some unique flair or put his/her personal mark on the piece as I've seen others without it. Finding this in yellow was especially nice for me as Blenko's hue is always bright & sunny, I have their turtle in this yellow and it really lights up a room

Penny I honestly thought that was a mermaid on first glance also! Sometimes I'm accused of overactive imagination so didn't mention it, but I'm so glad you saw that form too :) Maybe the glassmaker wanted to make it more ocean looking, in any case I'm glad to have this unusual Blenko shell & I thank you for your kind comment & love

I always like Blenko and I haven't seen this before. It's almost a pre war shape but with extra!
Blenko is so cool right Karen, their glass pieces like bookends & paperweights are not only pretty but really original. They are so high priced I was lucky to find this shell pretty reasonably, perhaps because it's a singleton. Thank you for your extra fabulous comment & love
