This is the 200th item on CW. So I thought I'd keep this, my latest glass purchase, for the moment. I was at the Collector's Fair two weeks ago and saw it. The dealer was not sure if it was English or Czech; she had been told it might be Kralik. I'd had a bad day the day before hunting at garage sales: my big mouth had meant that a hippo collectible was taken from me. Once bitten, twice shy! To be honest I wasn't sure until I showed it to Marty if it was Loetz. Alfredo later told me it was indeed a Mimosa Candia or is it Candia Mimosa?
It is a rarity here to see them in the wild: Loetz Mimosas I mean.
Mimosa in Australia is called 'wattle' or 'acacia pycnantha' and is the floral emblem of the country. It is a non-thorned variety particular to Australia. The name of this Loetz decor is more obvious than many.
The vase just glows!
It's like a little golden bag!

Think I am up to 3 pieces found in Oz at present ... Not even sure who the distributor here was ...
Of possible interest ... One of the glass houses (Victorian era) in the gardens at Schönbrunn in Vienna has a large section dedicated to Australasian flora ... so we were on the map ...
Cheers

Hi Amber! Many thanks again! If I remember you were out of town, maybe on the bike trip!
Nope home now and back to work...heavy sigh. Thinking of adding a week trip somewhere in August. I have loads of vacation time built up and I must use it or lose it this year. Plan on using it : )
