This 2 1-4" flower brooch is titled "hibiscus" on back, and is realistically shaped with five petals of striped blue & green pearly enamel and a golden pistil, in a goldtone setting. By Marcel Boucher #8742.
The hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii, our trip there this year has been postponed due to volcanic air quality issues, but hoping things will be better in the Spring

Such a lovely brooch!! The number indicates, that it's from the early 1960's. :)

Really nice flower brooch, love the enamel work. Beautiful Jenni!

Freaky weather is getting less and less reliable everywhere.

Mary it's been very hot & humid here in NY, and in Manhattan we have air quality issues too, it's all these uncaring polluters, so awful. HI on the other hand has trade winds that bring the "vog" (volcanic fog) to all the islands, so when that Big Island volcano acts up, you just have to wait til it simmers down to enjoy a trip there. Hubby is gleeful as he wasn't looking forward to the long connecting flight, but I'm persistent cause I love the place (Oahu), thank you for the kind comment & understanding

Phil I just love your wonderful compliments, thank you so much and very glad you enjoyed this

Ken I am really grateful when you can help me with dating or naming a piece, I'm glad this piece is vintage and made while Boucher was still alive, as I know his company continued awhile afterward. Really appreciate the great compliment as well

Thanks so much truthordare for the super compliments & incisive comment, I too believe the world is getting freakier weather, perhaps it's climate change as our governor mentioned a few yrs ago after we got slammed by Hurricane Sandy right on Halloween, so weird. I just hope that HI volcano calms down enough to give me one last trip there, it's like paradise on earth

Thank you MrsT for the really kind words, I love these colors too though of course it's a fantasy colored hibiscus, but trust Boucher to put his own pretty spin on it

      Appreciate the kind love everybody

I knew this was a Boucher the minute I laid eyes on it! Magnificent enameling
only Boucher could do! Wonderful piece of Boucher History, Jenni...
California is HOT too. Nearly two weeks of triple digits! 113 one day! And the wildfires are burning our beautiful state up ...17 burning right now! I pray for the brave souls fighting the fires in this mirerable heat! On a lighter note, just got my electric bill, it was triple digits too!

Oops, sorry for the type-o. Miserable!!
And my darn love button is acting up again :(

Many thanks Mary for the kind love it's very much appreciated, glad you enjoyed this

Appreciate the like GeodeJem, thank you

Thanks Eileen, Boucher had a lot of style, I really love his jewelry as it's very original. I love hibiscus flowers and only have one other piece, an enamel set that's early Coro, but the enamel is somewhat worn, still I got it because vintage hibiscus jewelry is hard to find - you must see tons of that flower in CA, I would never get tired of looking at them! Wow it's so hot there, and it's sad about the wild fires, hope you live far enough away from all that, yes the firefighters are super brave. Thanks friend for the wonderful comment as always, no worries on love buttons or typos (says the former typist who made many secretarial typos, didn't always fix them & got hollered at often by my bosses lol!)

It's too hot everywhere I think Newfld, even here in Ireland it's been BOILING! and that's extremely unusual....but, I digress, it looks like something you'd see under the sea like an anemone or something? Perhaps it's the deep colours that make me think that....

Sorry to use your beautiful post for a weather forecast Jenni,
But I know my dear friend you won't mind.
I just had to say last month was the hottest July on record for California...
      Global warming anyone? :(
    12. Newfld Newfld, 9 months ago
Lauren you are so perceptive, I can see this flower floating underwater as the designer made it very fluid looking, and the colors are very oceanic - thanks for the super comment & the love. I'm sorry you are suffering with high heat just like most of the US, there really must be some truth to the climate change as we get some really strange weather these days

Speaking of the heat, Eileen please do keep me informed about your CA weather, I am especially worried about those two separate raging wild fires that are all over the news, it's just awful and I really hope you are far away from it. Yes I do believe in the global warming, it is becoming epidemic especially for the poor wild animals & their dwindling habitats, so sad

Many thanks Judy for the love, so glad you enjoyed my hibiscus

Thanks Karen for the great compliment, glad to be able to show you some Marcel Boucher pieces, they always had a special style & elegance and of course I'm partial to his animals, but the flowers were pretty nice too. Thanks friend for the kind words & luv
