This 3 1-4"H x 5"W dresser box has a handpainted Venetian scene on the lid, with a leafy green garland & raised white dots around front bottom. The boxes were silk lined, only the frayed peach silk top portion remains on this one. The opal ware glass is by Wave Crest, a division of the CF Monroe Co (1892-1916) of Meriden CT
Nov 15th was my father's birthday, and since I had posted a Monroe box for my mom's BD in May, I thought this would complement it. Dad was a radioman in the US Navy during Korea, and upon his passing we received a Veterans Affairs certificate signed by then president Obama which I'm sure is standard for most veterans families. There is also a small photo of my parents with me on my christening day beside the stamped Wave Crest underside

Beautiful Wave Crest !!! I never know if it is one word or two words as so many people use both ways of spelling. Great story on your Dad and the picture of you all. Thanks for sharing !!

My Wave Crest was getting lonely here on CW - as there are not that many posted, which surprises me

It's a nice side to having relative's that were in the armed forces- all the tales and souvenirs from all over the world! It's nice to have memories like these too.....

Thanks Rose for the great compliment, I love your Wave Crest box too (I know it is spelled all as one word also, but I have 2 books about the Monroe boxes that spell it as separate words so I go by that), yours has the beautiful baroque styling and the fancier red imprint - I have one other with your logo for a future post. Glad you enjoyed the little family history

Judy thank you for the wonderful compliment and kind appreciation about my dad, hope somewhere out there he is watching & enjoying

Right Eileen, it is rare to see parents together holding the baby, somewhere I also have a pic with my godmother (aunt, dad's sis) holding me, with her husband my uncle, plus mom & dad gathered round me! They were all so happy because I was the firstborn child for all of them in the family. Your kind words are always so sweet, thank you so much

Lauren it is wonderful to have family who served in the military, although they don't usually like to talk about their service as it involves violence (Dad was at a couple battle sites in Korea, Inchon and Pusan, though his first yr he was stationed at Pt Barrow, Alaska in a radio shack which he always called the coldest place on earth), you are always very proud of them. Thanks my sweet friend for your compassionate comment

      Appreciate the kind love everyone
