While going through an old family album I came across these three photo's.
First photo shows the poor guy trying to fix a badly damaged rear wheel as his wife & kids look on.
In the second photo, he seems to have given up & is hoping the wine will fix things.
The man is not in the last photo, maybe he went for help or the women & kids made better subjects to photograph.

That bloody thing has broken spokes! Ah, a little wire & a bandaid.

Love the photos !!! I imagine the wife had packed their lunch, and spread out a quilt or blanket to eat on. They could not call for help back then.

You're right debbie, I don't see a cell! Hope it's not a long walk back. They will remember to take their cell next time I bet! Hope it was a strong wine.

Manitoba roads will do that to a car today with metal rims, no wonder the spokes broke!
Maybe he just climbed that telephone pole in the background pulled some wires off & waited for the repair crew to show up.

If he had switched the front wheel to the back he then could have fastened a fence post to the front wheel & skied home!

Kerry do you know what make the car is, I thought chevy, but not sure now?
    21. kerry10456 kerry10456, 11 years ago
The hood and radiator cover look like a Chevy or possibly one of the Durant line, if I could make out the center of the wheel, it would tell the story. The double ridge fenders makes me lean towards Chevy
    22. kerry10456 kerry10456, 11 years ago
google 1917 chevy and look at images, I believe it to be one of those.
    23. kerry10456 kerry10456, 11 years ago
Eye4, sounds like the "Man" needs to take a few days off for starters, then maybe some positive attitude classes. As far as old cars goes, I've always been a Big fan of vintage autos and such, just don't ask me to fiqure out a new one, couldn't tell you the difference between a Toyota or a Dodge ;-0
I wouldn't let the hissy-fit worry you, enjoy the rest of your weekend and hope Monday has a better outcome for you and your co-workers.
    24. walksoftly walksoftly, 11 years ago
      Kerry I believe it's a 1924 Willys Overland.

Thanks for the love & the comment Roy.
If he had switched the front wheel to the back he then could have fastened a fence post to the front wheel & skied home!
or just break the other 3 and drive it home on the spokes ...lol...still great pics

Wooden wheels and tires that never wore out or went flat. It's a shame tire companies don't make tires that last anymore.
