Silver and garnet pin, stem in silver too.

    3,3cm high, 3,1cm wide, 10,5cm with stem
Illegible hallmark on the stem, together with maker's mark GJ as sketched.

    Update:

Seems to be the marks for silver, Glasgow 1903.

    Thanks Lisa and Jean :-)

Early GJ marks has the J going through the G. I don't think your drawing is not quite right. Sorry, can't be more help than that.

Thanks to the 9 who loved it :-)

Don, thank you so much for your research and pics! The initials/signature on the cuff is sooo similar! But on the pin, it is a pinch very tiny...

it does look slightly Jensenish and quite beautiful...sorry, I need to see marks to be helpful, its a failing, brain fail :/

Any idea for the mark on last pic?
      Help! :-/
    12. kiwipaul kiwipaul, 6 years ago
Sorry don't think I can help with that one either. Only thing that springs to mind is the script letter "I" stamp, a tax mark for old Dutch made silver. It is mark "J" on this page http://www.925-1000.dk/Fnetherlands_Date_Code.html
    13. kyratango kyratango, 6 years ago
Thank you for your research! my first thoughts were for Scottish or Scandinavian due to the design.
The stamp JG doesn't look like a hallmark, rather a signature...
      Still mysterious!

      HELP NEEDED :-)

I'm going to go with Georg Jensen, as it is the closest, and the official site says the hallmark was altered due to space limitations, making each hallmark unique.

Thank you so much Katherine, I didn't saw this one in my searches :-)
      Still not sure though...

Other Jensen GJ marks, not the same...

I know, there were whole reams of different marks for GJ, however, this one stood alone, and then I went to their official site and read that the hallmarks were altered at times to fit the space of the piece, which makes sense with your pin. So I thought I would offer it as a possibility. :)

If you look at the G and J in the name Georg Jensen in pic#2, strong resemblance.

The official site says there were often irregularities making each piece unique:

Thanks again Katherine, I think I'll try to e-mail them to ask their opinion :-)

That was going to be my suggestion, good luck! :)

      Good eye, oldandsilly! :)
    25. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
Still can't read it, lol, so it is Edinburgh thistle?

Thanks a lot for helping in my mystery solving oldandsilly and Katherine :-))
    26. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 5 years ago
#6, 1935 was the G I saw similar, is that what you're referring to, oldandsilly?
    27. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
Uuh! Still think it is entwined GJ, can't recognize any old English letters in it :-)
      :-)
    28. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
Hehe! I can't be against the Scottish thistle mark id, as I don't know it "in person", and it is very badly stroke! I believe you for it :-)
Thanks again for all efforts on my mystery :-))

http://gaukartifact.com/2013/03/11/silver-hallmarks-glasgow-scotland-1681-1964/ Hi kyra, another idea is could it represent the year it was made
    30. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 5 years ago
      Meaning the G :-)
    31. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
      Thank you so much, Jean!
It does look like the script of the G for Glasgow 1903!

Difficult to be sure though because it is partial as struck on the needle part, so I can't see the shape of the frame.

I will consider this case as SOLVED :-D
