Hello CW Friends!!
My first post, in many months, is a bronze sculpture by Parisian sculptor Auguste Nicolas Cain (1821-1894). This is quite an unusual sculpture for Auguste Cain, as most all of his sculptures were of wildlife in their natural habitat. So, something as whimsical, as this, was very unusual for Auguste Cain. Auguste Cains' sculptures are known for their amazing detail and this one is just a very fine example of his work.
Though Auguste Cain passed away in 1894, his sculptures continued to be cast well into the 20th century. So, I seriously doubt that this one is what we'd refer to as vintage or antique. Though it does have a very nice patina to it.
I have managed to acquire two of these particular sculptures over my years of collecting and I treasure these sculptures very much so.
Thank you all for stopping by and having a look. I genuinely appreciate you all.
