I have a growing number of glass birds from Japan, but until now they have all been made by Multi Glass.
This is the first I have ever seen by Iwatsu, and tbh I had been unaware of them ever making any glass animals.
This bird doesn't show the creativity or technique of Multi Glass, but she is pretty good.
She is made from neodymium glass: the second photo is under flourescent light, the third is under natural light.
    A tall girl at 47cm

Really pretty! It's wonder these sorts of glass items manage to survive intact.

Very nice indeed. It reminds me of prism glass in the purple colour. If I took it outside on a cloudy day it would be blue as in your pic and indoors mainly a lavender colour, depending on light it is under. I wonder if it is the same?

Thanks Jenni for the love and comment! It's a guess what sort of bird but looks a bit like a cormorant to me, so the water swell you describe works well!

I often wonder that too Bonnie. She is probably 60 or so, still got her beak. Thanks!

She's a big bird for sure Jude. I agree the purple is prettier than the blue (I do love purple) but neo glass is so neat the way it changes. Thanks for your input!

Phil, neodymium or alexandrite glass has been used since about 1900 in all sorts of fields. Your prism may well be neo. It was a common way to make glass purple before they found other minerals to do it, and of course the colour change wasn't really known of generally before modern lighting.
It's interesting chemistry! Makes this bird better too.
Thanks for the comment and making me remember stuff lol.
