Yes, I'm proud to be French (but not always...)!
Upper one, 1"x1", was bought as 14k, unmarked, had some enamel damages...
When I got it, it appears it was french hallmarked with the eagle's head for 18k! Of course, I repaired the damages, but only temporary, because I'm not sure to want it all green...
Lower one, 1.5"x1.5", is silver, illegible hallmarks, beautiful open back paste stones.
I think they were after Edmond Rostand's theater play: Chantecler (1910)
He was the author of Cyrano de Bergerac and L'Aiglon (which Sarah Bernhardt interpreted).
Even since 1905 lot of novelty items were produced from Chantecler, the rooster who thought he commanded to the sun to rise in the morning (lol).
Hundreds of artisans worked on the realistic feathered costumes and up to scale decors for years!
The C clasps indicate the two brooches are from this period :-)
