    (429 items)

Yes, I'm proud to be French (but not always...)!

Upper one, 1"x1", was bought as 14k, unmarked, had some enamel damages...
When I got it, it appears it was french hallmarked with the eagle's head for 18k! Of course, I repaired the damages, but only temporary, because I'm not sure to want it all green...

Lower one, 1.5"x1.5", is silver, illegible hallmarks, beautiful open back paste stones.

I think they were after Edmond Rostand's theater play: Chantecler (1910)
He was the author of Cyrano de Bergerac and L'Aiglon (which Sarah Bernhardt interpreted).
Even since 1905 lot of novelty items were produced from Chantecler, the rooster who thought he commanded to the sun to rise in the morning (lol).
Hundreds of artisans worked on the realistic feathered costumes and up to scale decors for years!

The C clasps indicate the two brooches are from this period :-)

I love your roosters & I'm sorry to hear you are not always proud to be French if it has anything to do with the history of Frances pass you cannot be personally blamed for that. Be proud of who you are & were you come from & leave the rest were it should be in the pass as we cannot change that. It's how we learn from mistakes. Have a safe & wonderful day

Hi Paris! That's why my repair is not permanent ! C'est juste du feutre à l'alcool et du vernis à ongle! ;-)

Thanks Kyratango (your knick sounds very argentine jaja) for your comment on the stand hope, I published the bottle also and you had seen it and put your love http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/146761-pepita-rindskopf-vase?in=user. I love rooster figurines but I do not understand much about bijou. After your post I undestand why all the "boites" in that early years of 1900, night clubs, here were named Chantecler.
    31. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
Thanks O2cultcha and Lourdes for your lovely visit!
Kivatinitz, Kyra and Tango are my two beloved doggies, and I swear Tango is not a Dogo Argentino, but an all mixed 4 legged short tail thing ;-D
Thanks for your input about Chantecler night clubs!

I speak and write French but I'm more comfortable in English since I went to an english high school and university. As far as for Spanish, I really loved listening to Linda Rondstadt's "Canciones De Mi Padre" and especially one verse of one song stating; "La perdition de los hombres son las banditas mujeres". My wife does not agree...ha! ha! RER
    43. kyratango kyratango, 4 years ago
Wpj, Lisa, Aura, Rose, thank you for your much appreciated visit and love :-)

Rob, I agree with your wife who doesn't agree with "banditas mujeres ", but Blunderbuss may give his opinion if he comes there ;-))
