Here is a 2" Libra zodiac brooch, with a half moon and star design of brushed pearly green enamel, pave rhinestones and swinging pendulum scales design holding two faux turquoise ball cabochons, on goldtone, by DeNicola from the mid-60s. With a dark amber 4" round Libra scales design paperweight by Blenko Glass w/ orig vintage label. For all CW Libra friends and visitors. I did say I would not be getting anymore of the DeNicola zodiac series due to the prohibitive cost, but this one was unbelievably bargain priced so I went for it!
I have always taken the quarter moon and star to be in reference to Islam, especially in the days of old.
Interesting thought Phil, astrology in olden times was a belief system like a religion, although I have heard the Libra scales design is often a lawyer symbol, i.e. the scales of justice. Moon & stars reminds me of the Masonic symbol, don't really know what DeNicola had in mind but it was definitely "heavenly" lol! Appreciate the thoughtful comment

Nice pieces, Jenni! Blenko is currently celebrating their 125th anniversary year, so I uncharacteristically ponied up a few dollars to buy some suncatchers directly from Blenko and am eying a larger purchase later in the year to support them. One of the few old American art glass makers that are left!

Thanks Karen for liking both of these, you know I love to do monthly astrology sign tributes as I don't want to leave any nice CW member out. Most of us (even me!) don't follow our horoscope "prediction" stuff it's so silly, but seeing the creative design interpretations is nice, and I agree both Blenko and DeNicola did lovely work here, thank you for appreciating it & being such a great friend
