Today we decided to take advantage of a sunny day and head down to Letchworth State Park and enjoy the beautiful Genesee river Gorge and the Fall leaves. The Glen Iris Inn and the Park land was left to New York State for a State Park by the estate of William P Letchworth and the Inn has welcomed guest since 1914 ! As many times as I've been to this park the views and stunning Beauty of it still amazes me! If you ever get to the Finger Lake region of NYS don't miss this Park! Also we have to pass through small villages with Antique Stores that adds to our enjoyment :) Enjoy the Pictures!

Wish I lived close enough to visit. Beautiful ! 1828, so probably built by slaves or indentured.
Wow. Now that is a real waterfall.

Your welcome Newfld, you should see it, I could spend a couple days at this park it's so big and lots to see and do with many waterfalls and creeks with miles of hiking trails with stunning views.
Thanks blunderbuss2, this house was built by a lumber mill owner in 1828 and then sold to William P Letchworth around 1858, the lumber mill was gone by then I think. The House overlooks that huge waterfall.
Amazing photos and views! Definitely added to my list of places to visit.
Putting history back into it-- slavery ended in NY in 1827 (gradual emancipation that began several decade earlier), so I'd venture to say slaves were not involved in the building of this.
I don't know the NY State indentured, skilled labor status at that time period.
