A group of vases in this decor was designed by Otto Prutscher for the exhibition of the Cooperative of Austrian Artists in Vienna in 1929. The Urania decoration is a revival of the popular technique of separated threads from the Art Nouveau period, and was used on other Prutscher glassware of this time. Size: 3" tall by about 4.25" wide.

Really neat! Is the glass somewhat iridescent?
Also, was this blown into a mold?

      Wonderful. Congratulations.

I'm confused...as usual! Enamel fields? Is that the white lines? Or are they separated glass threads in white? Is Urania the yellowish-brown base color or the overall decor name? This looks like it was blown into a mold with coin-dot protrusions.

The white is the enamel - "enamel fields" is how Ricke translates it. The yellowish-brown ground is Urania. It is not to be confused with uranium glass, however- no glowing under black light. There is another documented example of a mold blown piece in the same color that is called Urania, but it has no enamel decoration. To answer MstrXplodR, yes to both questions.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification Warren!
