I have been looking for a nice example of Loetz's Metallin decor for quite a while, and was recently lucky to find one at a very reasonable price; funnily enough, I also found a second one, just a few days afterwards! These vases are both in lovely condition, and have silver overlays that were made by Alvin. Alvin Mfg. Co was a company based in the US in New Jersey, and their silver work is often found on Loetz pieces. I like the variation in green tones on the vases; one appears to be more silvery due to, I believe, the thickness of the applied powder on the surface of the glass before it was fired. The taller vase is 6.3" (16cm) tall, and the other is 5" (12.7cm) tall.

Thanks so much, Phil. Don't you find this happens with collecting sometimes? You are looking and looking for a decor, and then suddenly - there they are. It doesn't happen often of course, but when it does it's terrific! :)

You know me, and I am generally not big on Silver overlay on glass, as I find it distracting from the decors themselves. In this case, I think that the silver is quite nice, and highlights the decor as opposed to distracting from it. Very nice..... Now remember.... there is a 3rd one coming if you keep your eyes peeled. LOL :-)
