I caught it last week from England, arrived today!

Amazing details on this miniature, painted on the reverse of a slightly domed glass, mounted as a brooch, around 1850, metal is either pinchbeck or pomponne, a Zinc/Copper alloy.

I immediately recognised the river Seine, a view of Louvre, on the left, the Pont Royal (built between 1685-1689 during Louis XIV reign, by Jules Hardouin Mansart) and Notre Dame cathedral in center right back ground.

    Pic#4 is the nowadays view.

This is a very large brooch!

    Width: 2.3/4" or 7cm

    Height:2.3/8" or 6cm

Scott, thanks for being so quick to comment and love!
The lady who wore it had surely a large stature ;-D

Bonnie, thank you for your lovely comment :-))

Martika, thanks! It has some flaking underneath by the edges, but I find it perfect as is, and won't try any kyratisation! ;-)

Marga, if you happen to come to Paris again, it would be nice to meet! Thank you !

Poire, thank you for your appreciation:-)

Judy, I was stumped too when I saw it, the painting is incredible, and the reverse under glass painting technique is so special! Thank you for loving it so much :-D

Elisabethan, I had the luck to find a photo of the same view on the net, I agree it shows the accuracy of the landscape to compare.

Many thanks to all of you 22 lovers and friends, love back to you!

Didn't know it not the first time ...wonder why they didn't have boats built over the years to shoot water from the canals if needed ..
    23. kyratango kyratango, 3 years ago
Oh Gary, thank you for sharing my sadness...

Happily major treasures, great organ and the rosaces aren't destroyed.
Even the rooster which was on top of the collapsed spire was retrieved!

Now to see if there is no big structural damages...

Hey kido ..smiling ,.. Such a Gothic architecture church, which took so many generations to build something like 1100's to the 1500's one cant quantum the slow shadow of the church growing steadily higher year by year , is good news they had removed quite a bite of the gems from the church as you said ...I see Macron says you'll rebuild in 5 years ..I as one wish all of France, that they keep the wind to their backs as they rebuild and peace over comes your country to work together on this and stop the fighting on the streets ..and find another way to advance their cause ... smiling, later my friend ..spring is here spending more time outside working on the shack & outside burning leafs as the snow opens up more land to work on,.. Say hi to the kids ...
