I bid on this statue in my city antique auction, sometime in the very early 80's and obtained this sand cast bronze which is different in the more known hot wax process. The wax process produces a hollow cast bronze and over 95% of old bronzes are the wax process.

The sand cast bronze is not hollow so it always is very heavy in its solid state. I loved this piece always as its nice to see such a rare statue where nothing seems to be known of who made it and if it was made to be of a famous diver of times past

The statue has it's original patina and the deco base is original to the statue. The sand cast bronzes are solid bronze and are not hollow. She is 17 inches high and very heavy.

A swimmer? She's so effortlessly elegant, Phil, what a catch. I love the two tones of the metal and the division created by the swim(or other?)wear.

Ya I worked in a foundry for about 1 year as a welder working on the machinery.. filthy job..couldn't take it any longer ,... in the sand moldings the used graffiti in the mix ..and the other half of the building they did the wax process molds......good flash back to my younger days... nice bronze post...
