I have posted before some glass vases by Amemiya and here is another.
I'm particularly taken with this one because it is in green hues; green glass body and primarily green enamel.
The work by Amemiya is incredibly detailed and precise. If you look at the leaves of the grapevine you will see that they are made up of 2 greens and yellow, outlined in gold. The skill and time taken to paint these works are impressive.
Amemiya had a workshop in Tokyo through the 1960s and 1970s and although he designed all of the works he had 3-4 other talented painters doing some of the enameling. The glass itself was possibly blown by Shotoku, and I know is was cut and finished by Horiguchi.
This is world class enamel work and why Amemiya's work is not more collected I don't know. This vase measures 17cm.
I'll get together some other Amemiya I haven't posted before and put it up sometime soon.
Lovely shape, exquisite enamelling, seasonal and green! A knockout on all fronts.
Awesome & gorgeous vase, the gold outlining the leaves & berries enhances their beauty. Looking forward to seeing more by this talented artist
Really beautiful piece. Please follow through with your intent to post more of these.
It seems to have its own unique beauty, the green seems to have its own luminescence and sheen !~
indeed amazing compliments
High class enamelling, indeed.Looks embossed.Beautiful in one word!
Thanks Peggy! I didn't give the Christmas vibe a thought because I think I'm in denial Christmas is here already! I might actually put some water in it and some NSW Christmas bush, a very cool plant with red bracts.
I think this sort of work suits the Japanese mind of detailed, creative, handwork which is why it's so well done. Great comment thanks Jenni.
I will soon WOW, and thanks!
Thanks Phil, glad that showed up.
I often wonder how good my glass would look if you photographed it!
Thanks Sylvia, and best wishes for the festive season.
Hi Ivonne! Lovely to hear from you.
The enamel is very thick in places which does give it an embossed look.
very nice, so much going on there, wow. I know I would collect it!
Very pretty Karen, love that first photo..
