This 2 3-4"W x 2 1-2"L crab brooch is one of the oldest designs by Hattie Carnegie, with HC diamond mark that dates 1939-1945. Realistically detailed crab has a rose quartz body, faux turquoise beading, white rhinestone eyes & worn red enamel claw tips (one claw partially severed) on antiqued goldtone.

I adore her figurals. I almost got this one with a "blue" body at one time. I love the "rose" much better. Sorry about his claw :(

Eileen, knew you would recognize this Carnegie crab it came in several different colors, in one it was a brown stone with yellow beads, but somehow the turquoise was more appealing. I didn't even notice the broken claw til started taking the pix, even damaged they still got a lot of $. Good luck getting the lion and elephant, have seen photos they're gorgeous - thanx as ever for your wonderful comment/compliments

With an iconic piece such as this, you can live with a little damage. Somehow makes it ever so charming! Yes, Carnegie is $$$, I'm so glad he has found a good home.
Just a little story..Used to "crab" with my Dad, all he would let me do was change out the bait hooks, Ugh. My dear Brother would knock on my door and hand over a 5lb. bucket of full of Dungeness and I would get mad."now I will be up half the night boiling these!" What I would give for a fresh dungy today! Ha!
