This inkwell is one of Carlos's treasures. The decor is one of the famous ones by the painter Franz Hofstötter.
The shape was designed specially for Bakalowits Söhne and it is No. 3954 and is one of a series of desktop items (2 inkwells -this is the biggest of them-, 2 candleholders, 3 ashtrays or containers of some kind). The design is reproduced in page 200 of Waltraud Neuwirth's LOETZ AUSTRIA 1900.
Most of the items in this decoration seem to have a brown colour at he base whereas this one is blue.
